Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what Better Budget (“we”, “us”, “the app”) collects, why, and the choices you have. Better Budget is a personal budgeting app for Android. It is free to use, with an optional Premium subscription.
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or with an email and password, Google Firebase Authentication stores your email address, your name, and — if you choose to add one — a profile photo. If you continue without registration (guest mode), none of this is collected until you create an account.
- Your financial entries. The transactions, categories, budgets, and recurring rules you create. Better Budget does not connect to your bank; you enter this information yourself.
- Your preferences. Settings such as your currency, theme, and view options.
- Subscription status. If you buy Premium, the purchase is billed by Google Play. We receive your subscription status (active, expired, plan) through RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider, so the app can unlock Premium features. Your account id and — once you have an account — your email and name are shared with RevenueCat so we can identify your subscription for support. We never see or store your card details.
- Optional crash reports. If you turn on “Share crash reports”, Firebase Crashlytics collects anonymous diagnostics — such as your device model, operating-system version, and the technical details of a crash — to help us fix bugs. This is off unless you enable it, and you can change it at any time.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide the app, to know whether Premium is active on your account, and — with Premium — to back up and sync your entries across your devices. If you opt in to crash reports, we use them to find and fix bugs. We do not show ads, and we do not use your data for advertising.
Where your data is stored
Your financial entries and preferences are stored on your device (and in your device's Android backup), so the app works fully offline. Your account information and a record of your consent are stored in Google Firebase. With a Premium subscription, your entries are additionally backed up and synced through Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) under your own account. Google processes this data on our behalf as our infrastructure provider.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with our service providers — Google Firebase (infrastructure, authentication, optional crash reports), Google Play (billing), and RevenueCat (subscription status, plus your account id, email and name to identify it) — and where we are required to by law.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete any entry directly in the app.
- Delete your entire account (or, as a guest, all of your data) from Settings, which removes your data from your device and from our systems.
- Turn crash reporting on or off at any time.
Data retention
Your on-device data stays until you delete it, delete your account, or uninstall the app. If a Premium subscription ends, the cloud copy used for sync is no longer needed and is deleted from our systems after a grace period of about 90 days; your data remains on your device.
Security
On your device, your data is protected by Android's per-app sandbox. In the cloud, access is protected by Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules, so that only you can read or write your own data.
Children
Better Budget is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Future changes to the app
The core app is free and we do not show ads. If how we handle your data materially changes, we will ask for your consent again in the app before the change applies to you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
