Why I built Better Budget

A while ago, the budgeting app I used to track every euro made me sit through a long ad every time I logged a coffee — or pay almost €40 to remove them. For an app whose whole job is to help you spend less, that felt backwards.

So I built my own, with one mission: show you where your money goes — simply, privately, without a single ad in the way, and without the app itself becoming one of the expenses.

The core app is free. An optional subscription for cloud backup and sync is the entire business model — which is why there will never be ads, and never a reason to sell your data.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect a bank account?

No. Better Budget never connects to your bank — you log expenses yourself in a few taps, so no bank login or account numbers are ever involved.

Does it work offline?

Yes, fully. Your data lives on your device, so logging, budgets and trends all work without a connection. Premium cloud sync simply catches up when you're back online.

What does Premium add?

Automatic cloud backup and sync across devices, multiple accounts, unlimited custom categories and deeper spending insights. The core expense tracker and budget planner stay free.

Is my data private?

Your entries stay on your device and are included in your Android backup. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and crash reporting is off unless you opt in.

Your budget stays yours

Better Budget keeps your financial data on your device — it reaches the cloud only if you turn on Premium backup & sync, and it is never for sale. Crash reporting is optional and stays off until you turn it on.
